Objectives
___________________________________________________
To improve animal welfare by promoting understanding of behaviour, motivation and needs in laboratory animals
To develop learning opportunities that reflect the pivotal role of animal scientists and technologists in generating high quality scientific data
To improve communication of animal research, animal research ethics and legislation protecting animals used in science

Social and corporate responsibility
______________________________________________
The use of animals in scientific experiments goes beyond legislative and regulatory restrictions. There is a moral and ethical obligation to continually seek ways to improve animal welfare and deliver 3R's initiatives. A key way to achieving this is to provide opportunities for continued learning and development to those with legal responsibilities for the care and welfare of laboratory animals and individuals conducting research projects. This helps to stimulate new thinking, develop ideas, share experiences, integrate scientific rationale into welfare initiatives, achieve greater compliance and to appreciate the ethical, legal and social responsibilities of working in animal research.
Assurance of quality
______________________________________________
Wi Life Sciences courses, workshops and e-Learning are developed by qualified bioscientists with post-graduate teaching qualifications, who have considerable experience of working in animal research facilities in both academia and the highly regulated area of drug discovery, development and safety assessment.
Our projects include; developing laboratory animal science modules for a Foundation Degree in Health Care Sciences, supply and delivery of learning materials on the Advanced Diploma in Animal Care, working as consultants for a national animal organisation to restructure learning modules for external accreditation. We are a main provider of CPD to laboratory animal scientists at one of the worlds leading pharmaceutical companies.
Although our work is primarily within the animal research community, our experience in formal education and use of technologically advanced software, gives us the capability to develop educational materials that are stimulating, diverse, thought-provoking and effective in achieving their objectives.
What we do
______________________________________________
Wi Life Sciences are learning and training providers for organisations that use animals in science, industry and education.
Continued academic research in applying new knowledge to help improve animal welfare and in integrating 3R's initiatives into standard working practices is vital. The foundation for good animal welfare however begins in the animal facility, with those responsible for peforming daily husbandry and experimental procedures on living animals. Creating a culture that is based on care, compassion, understanding and technical excellence should be complemented with awareness of the significance of their work in meeting scientific objectives. These principles form the foundation for our courses.
Our short courses, workshops and e-learning give your institution the opportunity to develop your most valuable asset, your staff.
We also offer less formal, flexible learning opportunities aimed to promote openess and awareness, stimulate debate and share experiences by way of structured but informal group interaction sessions. Contact us at info@wilifesciences.com for more details.
Accreditation with the University of Chester
Our unique courses are developed to the standards required for university accreditation. We are proud of achieving and maintaining our accreditation status with the University of Chester - a major learning institution in the study of animal behaviour and welfare and one of the oldest colleges in the UK. Our accredited courses are now in their fourth year of accreditation and are reviewed annually.
Approval with the Society of Biology
Wi Life Sciences currently have nine courses/workshops that have been approved for purposes of continuing professional development (CPD) with the Society of Biology, This gives your institution the opportunity to fulfil CPD requirements with the leading professional body representing the biological sciences.
Society of Biology approval (for CPD) is being finalised for a number of our laboratory animal science.e-Learning modules.
