A fascinating insight into the world of nanotechnology. The video, expertly narrated by Stephen Fry explores how new discoveries in nanotechnology will help to shape the future of science and medicine.

The video link takes you to an interesting (though long!) debate by the UCLA Panel on the Science and Ethics of Animal Research. The panel consists of a number of leading experts in their respective fields. The debate highlights and considers a number of important issues on the use of experimental animals in science.

A film that asks the fundamental question "Why is Science Important?". The question gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own work and the diverse range of scientific disciplines involved in biomedical research. There is also a link that allows you to put forward your own suggestions why you think science is important.


The ARRIVE (Animal Research: Reporting In Vivo Experiments) guidelines are intended to improve the reporting of animal experiments.

The guidelines are the outcome of previous work carried out by the NC3Rs that showed how many publications reporting publicly funded animal research from the UK and US lacked key information on how the study was designed, conducted and analysed, which could limit their value in informing future scientific studies and policy. It is hoped the recommendations will improve the standards of reporting and that the data from animal experiments can be fully evaluated and utilised.
